YOUTH RIDERSHIP SEES SLIGHT INCREASE IN DECEMBER
Four-month total sees 18% increase over same period in 2017
RAPID CITY, SD--The City's youth participation in the 'Youth Ride Free' program saw a slight increase in December over the same period in 2017.
There was a four percent increase in the number of youth riders (12,240) recorded on the RapidRide system last month, compared to the December 2017 numbers (11,800). For the four-month period since school started (September-December), youth ridership is up 18 percent with 56,915 youth passenger trips recorded compared to the same four-month time frame in 2017 (48,244 youth passenger boardings).
School was in session for 15 days last month compared to 16 in December 2017.
Last month's youth ridership numbers are a 70 percent increase over the numbers of December 2016 when 7,221 youth passenger trips were recorded.
