RECOMMENDATIONS AT SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

City Council convening

special session at 5:30 p.m. Monday

RAPID CITY—The Rapid City Council will host a special meeting for presentations by the Vision Fund Citizen Committee, Mayor Allender, and city staff to make recommendations for the allocation of funding for projects out of the Vision Fund. The meeting is scheduled for next Monday, December 13 at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.  The session is open to the public.

            Committee Chairman Kevin Maher and Mayor Steve Allender will make presentations on community and City projects to be recommended for consideration by the City Council. 

            The meeting will include a general public comment period and discussion and possible action by the Council.

            The nine-member Vision Fund Citizen Committee has been meeting since August, vetting more than two dozen community proposals for a three-year cycle of vision funding.  The process has included working sessions to review project proposals, public hearings where applicants were invited to present their projects and site tours of project locations, The proposals for Vision Fund resources were submitted from community organizations for a variety of projects, many calling for new, expanded or upgraded facilities.

            Collectively, the applying organizations requested more than $62.5 million in Vision Fund allocations.  The total cost of all the projects seeking funding is $95.8 million.
