STRIDER BIKES MAKES $100,000 DONATION

FOR BICYCLE PLAYGROUND AT ROBBINSDALE PARK

Bicycle playground is latest feature

to City's three-dozen parks

RAPID CITY, SD--There are more than three dozen parks in Rapid City, offering numerous recreational opportunities for people of all ages. And next year, a new feature at Robbinsdale Park will provide the community's youngest residents with a fun and healthy experience.

Strider Sports International, Inc. of Rapid City is making a $100,000 donation to the City of Rapid City for development of a bicycle playground.  The playground will be located at Robbinsdale Park, east of Fire Station 4 by the Rapid City BMX track and the Robbinsdale Dog Park.

"We love the freedom and confidence biking instills in kids," said Ryan McFarland, founder and CEO of Strider Sports International, Inc.  "It has been cool to see people re-discovering the benefits of biking during the pandemic. This will be a great place for riders of all ages to have some fun and practice their skills."

McFarland presented an enlarged $100,000 check to Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender and Parks officials in a Wednesday (December 16) ceremony at Robbinsdale Park.  With the donation, City officials will work on a contract with a bike track building company for construction of the playground.

Features of the Robbinsdale Park Bicycle Playground include a Pump Track with skills development features such as ring tunnels, bike ramps, cones, wave rollers and ladders. The bicycle playground will be geared towards children with little or no experience and an emphasis on a fun experience.

"The bicycle playground is a great addition to our City's parks system," said Jeff Biegler, Parks and Recreation Department director. "It will be set up as a great, fun experience for young riders, those who are just starting and learning to ride, and novices on up. We expect it to get a lot of attention from our young kids and families."
