RAPID CITY—It’s been a long dry spell at the City’s outdoor pools since the last jump off the diving board, trip down the slide or chance to dip feet off the side into the cool waters.
That’s all changed as the City’s outdoor pools are now open for the season. The pools were closed last summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic and City Parks and Recreation Department officials were concerned this spring that a lack of lifeguards might impact the opening of some pools this summer, or cause a reduction in hours.
The outdoor pools are open from noon to 6 p.m. daily. An operational issue with the credit card machines for transactions has been resolved at the pools, according to City officials.
The opening date schedule for the City’s outdoor pools:
**Roosevelt Swim Center's 50-meter pool: Tuesday, June 1
**Parkview Pool: Friday, June 4
**Horace Mann Pool: Friday, June 4
**Sioux Park's Jimmy Hilton Pool: Friday, June 4
