WORK SCHEDULED NEXT WEEK
ON FIFTH STREET RAILROAD CROSSINGS
Crews will perform work at night
Monday to Wednesday
RAPID CITY, SD—Railroad crews will conduct repairs on the Fifth Street railroad crossings between Omaha Street and Main Street next week (July 19-21). Work is expected to begin Monday night with completion expected Wednesday.
Crews with the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Railroad (RCPE) will conduct work in the late evening and overnight hours to minimize traffic impacts, according to City officials. Message boards notifying traffic of the work will be placed near the affected area this week and other traffic sticks and signage will go up around 9 p.m. each evening, initiating the work window of the railroad repair crews. Drivers are advised to use caution in the construction work area.
RCPE crews will replace the railroad panels. City Street Department crews will collaborate with RCPE to conduct needed street repairs in the construction area, in conjunction with the railroad repair work.
Railroad crews completed work on the crossing at E. North Street near Rushmore Crossing this past week. RCPE crews will also be conducting repairs later this summer on Steele Avenue and Sheffer Street crossings.
