Presentation outlines possible Arena ADA & Life Safety fixes

City Engineer Rod Johnson provided the Civic Center Resolution Task Force with a presentation on potential renovations to the Barnett Arena, addressing ADA, Life Safety and Enhancement issues.

Among the improvements detailed by Johnson included the following:

*New second floor entrance from the West Concourse to the South Balcony level;

*Additional stairs leading to second floor entrance from the south at the balcony level;

*Accessible ramp to the second floor entrance from the south at balcony level;

*Build a new South Balcony with accessible seating and access to the west and east sides of the Arena;

*New accessible seating on the east side of the Arena;

*Handrails on Arena seating stairs;

*Accessible concessions, restrooms and shower rooms;

*Air quality improvements;

*Fire alarm improvements; and

*Emergency egress improvements.

The Task Force approved seeking Council authorization for a market analysis study that would explore costs of renovations and upgrades to the Barnett Arena as well as addressing costs for a larger facility.
