Report identifies four year priority listing

of projects for area cities and counties

RAPID CITY, SD--The Rapid City Planning Commission approved the Rapid City Area Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Draft Report at today's meeting.

The draft report is developed by the Rapid City Metropolitan Planning Organization, which provides transportation planning efforts for the region including the cities of Rapid City, Box Elder, Summerset, Piedmont, Ellsworth AFB and Pennington County and Meade County.

The TIP Draft Report is a four-year priority list and financial plan for highway, transit and intermodal projects for 2019-2022.  Prioritized projects total $74 million in federal funds and $10 million in local funds to support identified priority projects in Rapid City during the time frame.  The Report identifies 37 Rapid City projects from 2018-2023 for funding.

"The TIP serves as a key fiscal management tool to assist state and local agencies in matching transportation needs with resources," said City Planner Kip Harrington.  "Development, review and approval of the report includes participation from the affected public agencies, citizen's groups, private transportation providers and representatives from various transportation entities."
