RAPID CITY, SD--Despite the efforts of Mother Nature with May snowstorms and consistent rainfall throughout most of the summer months, City officials indicate contractors have completed several construction projects or are in final phase work.

"It has been a very busy summer for construction in the City and much-needed work has been done in various parts of the City," said Dale Tech, City Public Works director.  "In many instances, these projects provide important reconstruction and upgrades to the infrastructure that benefit our residents and the visitors to our community.

"Certainly the weather has not done us any favors but crews were able to get most of these projects completed."

City officials indicate the listed projects represent millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements and upgrades to City roads. The list doesn't include dozens of smaller reconstruction/street improvement projects that have been completed this construction season.

*Sturgis Road and West Chicago Street intersection reconstruction

            *City-wide crack sealing

            *Park Drive overlay

            *West Fulton Street paving project

            *East Monroe Street paving project

            Projects entering final phase work:

*Disk Drive and Haines Avenue intersection reconstruction

            *Fulton Street reconstruction

*Willow Drive, Ivy Avenue and East Fairlane Drive reconstruction

            Other projects/status:

*The St. Cloud Reconstruction Project will shut down in November and finish in 2020.

*The Cambell Street project continues work with a projected completion date of December if not in late November.

*The East Boulevard/East North Street Project: state DOT contractor crews will complete their work north of the Rapid Creek bridge within the next month.  The contractor will return to complete the work on East North Street next summer

*The East Boulevard project's winter utility work will start south of St. Joseph Street in late November. Work will continue as weather permits.
