RAPID CITY—The Rapid City Council will convene a budget hearing and first reading of the 2023 City budget next Wednesday (August 17) at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall. The session is open to the public.
The 2023 City budget proposal will be presented to the Rapid City Council by Mayor Steve Allender in a special session scheduled for Monday (August 15) at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers. Although a quorum of the Council may be present, no votes will be taken during the 5:30 p.m. special session. The session will take place ahead of the Council’s regularly-scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m.
By state law, the City Council must approve two formal ‘readings’ of the budget by September 30 each year. At Wednesday’s first budget hearing and reading, the Council may discuss if additional hearings are needed and the date for the Council’s second reading of the budget.
