SECOND HEARING SET FOR AUGUST 26 ON CITY'S 2020 BUDGET
RAPID CITY--The Rapid City Council has scheduled a second hearing on the 2020 budget for Monday, August 26, 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
The first budget hearing was held August 15 with comment taken from the public and discussion held among Council members. The Council voted to move the budget forward to a second hearing without recommendation. See additional story with Mayor Allender's budget presentation linked below.

RAPID CITY--Mayor Steve Allender presented the City's 2020 budget to the City Council in a special session Monday, August 5.
Council leadership will determine if and how many budget hearings will be scheduled on the proposed budget. Two readings and approvals of the finalized budget are required by the end of September.
The Mayor's presentation on the budget outlined various socio-economic conditions in the region, sales tax and municipal receipts tax (BBB) collections in recent years, building permit valuations and economic factors/impacts from tourism and farm income. The proposed 2020 budget also provides a breakdown of General Fund revenues and expenses, an overview of Enteprise, Special Revenue and Internal Service Funds, infrastructure spending and the major challenges and opportunities for the City moving forward.
