RAPID CITY, SD--The 29th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will be celebrated with the annual ADA picnic July 26 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Main Street Square.

A picnic lunch catered by Angel's Catering will be provided and the event will include presentations and vendors.

The event is hosted by the Rapid City Mayor's Committee for People With Disabilities and is open to the public.

The ADA is landmark legislation that was passed by Congress and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush on July 26, 1990.  The law prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation and all public and private places open to the general public, ensuring people with disabilities are provided with the same rights and opportunities as everyone else under the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

For more information about the picnic or for vendor space, contact Catherine Greseth, Mayor's Committee Chair, at 787-2590.
