SPEAKER PANEL EVENT SET FOR JANUARY 16;
NEXT STEP IN CITY’S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN DEVELOPMENT
RAPID CITY, SD—The next step in the evolving process to develop the new Rapid City Comprehensive Plan includes an open house next week featuring a speaker panel event.
The City’s Community Development Department will host the event Thursday, January 16 at 4:30 p.m. at the Dahl Arts Center. The first hour will serve as an open house followed by the speaker panel event from 5:30-7 p.m. The speaker panel event will feature personal stories from community members, organizations and Rapid City experts reflecting on shared community experiences, successes celebrated and hopes for the future.
Each speaker will focus on a specific area of the Comprehensive Plan including housing, transportation, parks and open space, education, economic development and quality of life. Before and after the speakers, participants will have the opportunity to contribute and share their own ideas and feedback on the City’s Comprehensive Plan, which was last updated in 2014.
“The speaker panel event will be an open house and an opportunity to collect additional feedback on the concrete goals, policies and actions the City can focus on in the new comprehensive plan to achieve community goals,” said City Long Range Planning Manager Kip Harrington. “The Comprehensive Plan serves as a playbook or game plan as the City looks ahead in addressing the community’s goals and our needs, issues and challenges with continued and expected growth.”
