Downtown stakeholders, public shared input
RAPID CITY, SD--The City is hosted an open house to present the findings and recommendations of the Downtown Parking Study and Strategic Plan, Thursday, March 15 at the Dahl Arts Center's Vucurevich Event Center.
The open house included two identical presentations with a question period following each presentation. More than 50 people attended the open house.
"The open house included representatives from the consulting team who provided an overview of the Study, including recommendations for strategies the City should implement to improve the parking experience for visitors, employees and residents downtown," said Community Development Director Ken Young. "Efficient and responsible management of Rapid City's parking assets are critical to accommodate the increased density, vibrancy, and vitality envisioned for Rapid City's downtown."
The parking study recommendations will be on the March 19 City Council agenda with a request for acknowledgement, to establish a parking advisory committee and to direct staff to develop a parking implementation strategy.
A digital copy of the parking study is available online at bit.ly/downtownrc . For more information about the open house, contact the Community Development Department at 394-4120.
