Informal quarterly events provide updates, promote dialogue with public

RAPID CITY--The City's Community Development Department will host the third in a quarterly series of "Coffee With Planners" events Wednesday, May 2, 9 a.m. in Council Chambers of the City/School Administration Center.  The public is invited.

Community Development Director Ken Young initiated the informal coffees last November as a way for the public to learn and ask questions about current and proposed development projects and future city master plans. A coffee event was also held in February.

"This is our third coffee event in the past several months," said Young.  "The events are informal. They have been well-attended and we find the sessions to be a great way to share updates, feedback and dialogue between City staff, planners, developers and interested members of the public."

Young says among the topics of discussion planned for the meeting is a proposed ordinance to allow accessory dwelling units in residential neighborhoods.

Coffee and donuts will be provided.
