CITY UNVEILING NEW UTILITY BILLING SYSTEM

RAPID CITY--The City is implementing a new utility billing system effective January 30, 2017.

Beginning January 30, the City's 23,000 utility customers will be issued a new account number and there will be a new online option to access their account and pay their utility bills.  They can continue to pay their bills in person or by mail, use the drop box at 300 Sixth Street or have their payment deducted from their bank using the City's 'SURE-PAY' program or use the new online option.  Customers continuing to utilize the bank for payment must update to their new utility account number.

"The City is changing to the new system to provide customers more convenience with the online option to view usage, payment history and make payments along with printing copies of their bills," said Connie Namanny, City of Rapid City Water Billing and Service Supervisor.

Bills received in February will include a new account number and a new bill format.  When they receive their February statement, City utility customers can utilize the new online payment system with the newly-issued account number.  With the new account number, they will also be able to obtain step-by-step instructions on the City's website at rcgov.org .

Customers who are currently enrolled in the 'SURE-PAY' program will not need to make any changes.  The information will automatically be transferred to the new system with the updated account number.

"If you are using our 'SURE-PAY' program, we have already taken care of everything for you and you will remain in the program," said Namanny.  "If you pay your utility bill through your bank's bill pay service, make sure you have updated the bank with the new account information."

Customers with questions can contact the City of Rapid City Utility Billing and Service Department at 394-4125 .
