Among the 1200 volunteers participating in this year's United Way of the Black Hills' Day of Caring project teams was the City team.
The team comprised of the mayor and department and division directors put in an afternoon of staining picnic tables and beautifying the Star of the West Complex.
Mayor Steve Allender provided opening remarks at the United Way luncheon. Council members Jason Salamun and Ritchie Nordstrom also attended the luncheon. The City's Day of Caring project team consisted of: Mayor Allender, Finance Officer Pauline Sumption, Public Works Director Dale Tech, Community Development Director Ken Young, Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Biegler, Fire Chief Rod Seals, Police Chief Karl Jegeris, Library Director Terri Davis, Airport Director Patrick Dame, Human Resources Director Nick Stroot, Assistant City Attorney Wade Nyberg, City IT Officer Jim Gilbert and Mayor's Office Executive Coordinator Kelsey Sakos.
