City Services Adjusted For Thanksgiving Holiday Week

FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEK
**City Offices Closed Thursday & Friday;
**Landfill closed, trash collection schedule adjusted
**Rapid Transit operations suspended Thursday & Friday
**Swim Center & Ice Arena holding additional swim/skate times
RAPID CITY--City offices will be closed next Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27 in recognition of the Thanksgiving holiday. The City Hall facility will be closed Thursday and Friday.
Holiday week events include the 12th annual Wilson Park Tree Lighting event at Wilson Park on Mount Rushmore Road next Tuesday from 5:15 p.m.-6 p.m. The Main Street Square Holiday Celebration and Winter Market is scheduled Saturday (November 28) from 2-6 p.m. at Main Street Square with the annual Festival of Lights parade scheduled for 6 p.m. in downtown Rapid City. Mayor Steve Allender is proclaiming Saturday, November 28 at Small Business Saturday in Rapid City.
In addition to City Hall, adjustment in services and operations for other city facilities and services during Thanksgiving Week include:
*Solid Waste: The City's trash collection schedule will be altered during the holiday week. The Rapid City Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day. There is normal trash collection on Monday and Friday. Tuesday's collection should be set out on Monday until collected with Wednesday collection set out on Tuesday until collected, and Thursday collection set out Wednesday until collected.
*Rapid Transit: Services will be suspended Thursday and Friday.
*Rapid City Public Library: The Rapid City Public Library will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday and will be closed Thursday for Thanksgiving. The library will resume normal hours on Friday.
*Rushmore Plaza Civic Center: The facility will be closed Thursday and Friday.
*Roosevelt Swim Center: The Rapid City Swim Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day and will host open swim hours Monday through Friday (minus Thanksgiving Day) from 1-8:45 p.m. and will operate normal hours on Wednesday, Friday with no land or water fitness classes either day. Facility capacity limits will be enforced.
*Roosevelt Ice Arena: The facility will be closed Thanksgiving Day. The facility will host public skate hours Thanksgiving Week from 2:45-5 p.m. this Sunday; 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday; additional skate time from 7-9 p.m. Friday (November 27), and on Saturday (November 28) from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m.
*Rapid City Regional Airport: The Airport will be open Thanksgiving with administrative offices closed both Thursday and Friday. The public is encouraged to check with the respective airlines for travel updates.
*Rapid City Police and Fire Departments: RCPD and RCFD will operate regular shifts Thanksgiving Day. Administrative offices for both departments will be closed Thursday and Friday.
