City Seeks Applicants For Airport Board, Parking Advisory Board

The City is seeking applicants for both the Airport Board and Public Parking Advisory Board.  Here are details to both:

AIRPORT BOARD

Citizen Interest Applications accepted through August 28

The City is seeking to fill one (1) vacancy on the Airport Board of Directors.

Applicants must be residents of Rapid City or reside within the 3-mile jurisdiction of the City. The Board vacancy is for an unexpired term through May 1, 2024.

Interested citizens are encouraged to apply by submitting a Citizen Interest Application online. Application deadline is August 28 at 5:00 p.m.  

The Airport Board is a semi-autonomous board, which operates the Airport on Behalf of the City of Rapid City. They are responsible for the general oversight of the Airport. They have the ability to sign contracts on behalf of the City and authorize expenditure of funds needed to operate the Airport. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

The City would like to encourage those with five or more years’ experience in any of the following professions to apply: law, banking, finance, investments, tourism, industry, commerce, engineering, accounting, planning, labor or regulation.

PUBLIC PARKING ADVISORY BOARD

Citizen Interest Applications accepted through August 17.

Rapid City, SD: The City is seeking candidates to fill two (2) vacancies on the Public Parking Advisory Board.

The current vacancies are for unexpired terms expiring July 1, 2021 and July 1, 2022. Applicants must be residents of Rapid City, or be the owner of property located in the district established in § 10.44.010 of the RCMC. An owner of property shall mean the title holder, purchaser under a contract for deed, lessee, or an officer, agent, or employee of a legal entity that meets one of the three criteria. This advisory board consists of seven (7) members, with a minimum of four (4) members being from the district. 

Interested citizens are encouraged to apply by submitting a Citizen Interest Application online. Application deadline is August 17 at 5:00 p.m.  

The Parking Advisory Board will advise and make policy recommendations to City staff and City Council on all aspects of public parking within the City. The purpose of the board is to provide citizen property owner input into the policy decisions for the City related to all aspects of public parking, including on-street parking, parking meters, parking garages, parking lots, and parking fees. The board is also responsible for hearing and deciding any administrative appeals from people assessed additional fees for parking in violation of RCMC 10.40 and 10.44. The board will meet as necessary to fulfill its obligations and perform the duties established.
