The smells of sunscreen and freshly-mowed grass fill the air at Sunken Gardens as City Greenhouse Specialist John Berglund and his crews are planting flowers and mowing grass.

The crews are primarly seasonal staff and for the next week or so will be planting most of the 27,000 plants raised by Berglund and Parks staff at the City Greenhouse the past two months.  Crews will be planting flowers at Sunken Gardens, Noordermeer Formal Gardens, Halley Park, WIlson Park and Otto's Corner frontage area.

Berglund's crews will maintain the flower beds through the summer and will have a few thousand plants in reserve should plants become damaged due to weather issues.
