City Council must approve any changes
RAPID CITY, SD—The City’s Trenching Board will host a public meeting seeking feedback on changes to the City’s code for trenching contractors and the operating manual for the trenching board.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 20 at 7 a.m. in City Council Chambers. The Trenching Board is seeking public comments and input from licensed contractors on proposed changes to the municipal code and the operating manual.
A summary of the proposed changes are available online at http://bit.ly/TrenchingBoardInfo .
For more than a year, the Rapid City Trenching Board and City staff have been working on changes to the Board’s operating manual and on updating Municipal Code 13.24, which governs sewer, water and trenching contractor licenses and the trenching board.
The Rapid City Trenching Board protects the public’s health, safety and welfare and to guard against unsafe, unstable and short-lived product or services related to installation of sewer collection systems, water distribution systems and excavating in the public right-of-way. The Board also ensures new or small volume contractors are able to obtain a license without hardship.
