ACTIVITIES WEEK EVENTS
Games to feature athletes
competing in four sports
RAPID CITY, SD--The Senior Activities Week will be held July 11-15 in Rapid City with numerous athletic events scheduled for participants age 50 or older. The Senior Games are hosted by the Rapid City Parks and Recreation Department.
Participants compete against others of their same gender and in the same five-year age group. This summer’s Games will feature swimming, pickleball, golf and ice skating. The events are scheduled over five days at various City recreational facilities. Deadline to register is July 8.
“The Senior Games event was established to promote health, fitness and physical activity for men and women 50 years of age and older,” said City Recreation Specialist Lindsey Myers. “There are a number of competitive events and it’s a great way for participants to compete in a fun way and perhaps display some skills and talents from younger days . For some, it’s an opportunity to just get out and participate in a physical activity among friends and have fun.”
Entry fee is $10 per person which includes participation in any events and an athletes picnic Wednesday, July 13. Participants can register online at https://rapidcity.activityreg.com/selectactivity_t2.wcs or at the Parks and Recreation office at 515 West Boulevard.
