CITY PRESENTING HIDDEN HERO OF THE MONTH AWARDS
RAPID CITY--The City of Rapid City is beginning a new recognition program to honor caregivers of veterans in the community.
Beginning in April, the City will present the Hidden Hero of the Month Award, recognizing caregivers of veterans who served the nation. The Hidden Hero of the Month is presented by the City in conjunction with the VA Black Hills Caregiver Support Office and the Elizabeth Dole Foundation.
"As the son of a veteran, and as a member of a military community, I feel it is important to recognize our veterans and those that care for them when needed," said Mayor Steve Allender. "The Hidden Heroes program provides recognition to deserving caretakers and Rapid City is proud to participate in recognizing these individuals in our community."
Any person or organization may nominate an individual who serves as a veteran caregiver for the Hidden Hero of the Month Award. Recipients will be recognized at the second City Council meeting of each month.
