As part of National Bike to Work Week, residents commuting to work May 18 were treated to a light breakfast on their travels.
The Rapid City Parks and Recreation Division is hosted the annual 'Bike For Bacon' event in Founders Park. Bicyclists, walkers and joggers stopped by the resting station along the bike path to fuel up with some continental breakfast food provided by local businesses and served by Department staff. City Council member Becky Drury was among the Bike Path bicyclists stopping by for a visit and some breakfast fuel.
"It's a great way to promote bicycling as a way to commute to work, school and recreation," said Kristy Lintz, City Recreation Specialist. "We are encouraging cyclists to use the bike path and take a few minutes to stop by for a light breakfast on their travels."
Breakfast included muffins, donuts, scones, rolls, coffee and of course, BACON!
National Bike to Work Week is May 14-18 and follows last week's National Bike to School Day event in Rapid City with school-aged bicyclists participating to support bicycle commuting in the community.
