City Issues September Building Permit & Valuation Report
RAPID CITY, SD--A total of 344 building permits were issued by the City's Building Services Division in September with a total valuation of nearly $22 million. The valuation total of $21,971,644 was the sixth highest September for building permit valuation since 2000.
For 2018, the City has issued a total of 2,938 building permits with a combined valuation of $284,001,758. By comparison, the City had issued 2,789 building permits through the first nine months of 2017 with a combined valuation of $224,911,139.
Top permits issued by the City in September included: Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) for renovations of the YMCA/Rapid City Area Schools facility at 625 Ninth Street ($7,643,720); SBC Archway V LLC for GSA addition and alterations at 3600 Jet Drive ($2,475,575); Menard, Inc. for the First Interstate Bank facility at 847 N. Creek Drive ($1,603,000); and Affordable Exteriors, Inc. for roofing and siding of their facility at 2431 Emerson Lane ($550,000).
Roofing permits remained solid in September. Through nine months, the City had issued 951 residential and 56 commercial roofing permits compared to 635 residential and 38 commercial roofing permits for the same nine-month period in 2017.
