Proposed changes address development patterns, omissions in Plan Rapid City

RAPID CITY, SD--Property owners impacted by proposed future land use designation changes in the City's Comprehensive Plan are invited to an open house Wednesday, August 14 from 4:30-6 p.m. in Council Chambers.

The open house is hosted by the City's Department of Community Development and provides opportunity for informal discussions with City staff on proposed future land use designation changes intended to address existing development patterns, errors and omissions in the City's Comprehensive Plan, which was adopted in 2014. The City Council is scheduled to consider a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to revise the City's Future Land Use Plan at its August 19 meeting.

"The City is working on revising the future land use designations of several areas," said Kelly Brennan, City Long Range Planner.  "We are working to address existing development trends in particular areas of the City as well as fine tune and clean up existing language in the current City Plan."
