The City's Division of Building Services issued 240 building permits in July with a total valuation of $26,175,345. Through seven months of 2016, the City has issued 1,785 permits with a total valuation of $196,146,397. It is the second-highest July for permit valuation since 2000.
The July valuation is $9.4 million more than a year ago. In July 2015, the City issued 330 permits with a valuation total of $16,754,741. For the first seven months of 2015, the City issued 1,901 permits with a total valuation of $120,526,828.
Last month, the City issued seven permits each with a valuation of one million dollars or more: The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society for a skilled nursing facility, 4941 St. Martins Drive ($6,949,000); Northwest District of the Wesleyan Church for a new First Wesleyan Church, 3040 Marlin Drive ($2,511,315); Black Hills Federal Credit Union for alterations/additions, 2700 N. Plaza Drive ($1,718,190); Back Porch SD, LLC for the footings and foundation for the new Eddie's Truck Center, 1022 N. Turbine Drive ($1,717,000); Black Hills Corporation for utility and infrastructure at the Black Hills Corporation campus, 2110-2299 Catron Boulevard ($1,500,000); Granite Mountain Restaurants for the MacKenzie River Pizza location, 1205 Eglin Street ($1,336,791) and Marlin Creek Holdings, LLC for Pro-Mark Services' Rapid City Headquarters and leased space, 4624 Creek Drive ($1,200,000).
