RAPID CITY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
CITY DEVELOPS ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRE SEEKING PUBLIC’S PRIORITIES FOR IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY
Building on success of recent open houses, public asked for input on priorities in City’s Comprehensive Plan
RAPID CITY, SD—Following a series of public open houses, including the recent speaker panel event, the City’s Community Development Department is reminding the public of a pending deadline to provide feedback through an online questionnaire to guide the next phase of the new Rapid City Comprehensive Plan.
The questionnaire can be accessed through February 7 at www.rapidcitycomprehensiveplan.com . Feedback from the questionnaire will build on the input gathered from recent events such as root beer socials, community interviews, comments at drop-in events and results from an initial public questionnaire.
The questionnaire asks respondents to list top priorities in several key areas including: how to improve the economy, education, housing, infrastructure, public services/facilities, recreation/open space, community character, urban form, arts/culture, community engagement, and regional coordination in Rapid City.
“The public can assist us by completing the online questionnaire, which will help us to prioritize goals and actions that could shape the future growth, character and quality of life in Rapid City,” said City Long-Range Planning Division Manager Kip Harrington. “We had a very successful open house and speaker panel event earlier this month where we received great feedback and input. This questionnaire allows continued collaboration with the public and the feedback will guide us through this next phase in developing the new comprehensive plan.”
Harrington says the City’s Comprehensive Plan, last updated in 2014, is expected to be completed later this year.
“The Comprehensive Plan serves as a playbook or game plan as the City looks ahead in addressing the community’s goals and our needs, issues and challenges with continued and expected growth.”
