City crews have been busy collecting decorations and lights, and checking them twice--ready to transform downtown Rapid City, Wilson Park and Halley Park into a holiday wonderland. Beginning this week, crews are decorating the areas for the holiday season.
City Parks Division Manager Scott Anderson says crews started decorating the downtown corridor area on Monday. Crews will also be decorating Wilson Park and Halley Park either later in the week or the week of November 13.
"The holiday season is upon us and Thanksgiving is just a couple weeks away," said Anderson. "We want to get the lights and decorations up before it gets too cold and make sure everything is working properly."
Large wreaths, banners and lights will be placed in the downtown core area. Crews also will be decorating Wilson Park in time for the November 21 tree lighting ceremony and activities.
Most of the lights and decorations will remain up past New Year's Day with the downtown tree decorations remaining up through the Black Hills Stock Show.
