At the April 3 meeting, the Rapid City Council voted 8-1 to approve a new logo for the City of Rapid City. The action is a culmination of over 18 months of work by City departments and staff to develop a city wide mission, vision and set of values. Based on these decisions, a local marketing firm - the professionals at Robert Sharp and Associates - was selected to produce designs incorporating the taglines. Nearly 400 City employees voted in December to select a logo design among three to five tagline choices.
The work to develop the City's mission, vision. values and logo also included input from retreats with the city council, department directors and the mayor. The new logo may be used in a number of ways, from identification stickers on the sides of City vehicles, to letterhead and business cards, to branding and promotion efforts on behalf of the City.
