City Announces Special Promotions for Outdoor Pools

CITY ANNOUNCES OPENING DATES AND SPECIAL PROMOTIONS FOR OUTDOOR POOLS

RAPID CITY, SD—Temperatures may be on the chilly side this week, but it won’t be long before warm days bring out the swimsuits, sunscreen and sunglasses.

            The City’s outdoor pools are set to open for the summer season over the next week.

             The Horace Mann, Parkview and Sioux Park pools are set to open Friday, May 30 and will be open daily from noon to 6 p.m.  The 50-meter outdoor pool at the Roosevelt Swim Center is set to open this Saturday with hours of operation Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5:30 p.m.                       

            Daily swim passes are $8 for adults and youth, and $7 for senior citizens 62 years and older. Quarterly, yearly and 20-punch passes are also available. The City is offering a ‘Hello Summer’ discount with 10 percent off quarterly or 20-punch passes if purchased this week, Thursday through Saturday, at the Roosevelt Park Swim Center.

             A total of 81,025 admissions were recorded at the Sioux Park, Parkview, Horace Mann and Roosevelt Park Swim Center pools during the 2024 summer period, which was higher than the 73,097 admissions recorded in the summer of 2023 and the 80,412 admissions from the 2022 summer pool season. All four pools reported increases over a year ago.

            Special features this summer at the three city pools include a $4 ‘Quick Dip Hour Pass’ special from 5 to 6 p.m. and Sundays will again be designated as ‘Funday 4 Sunday’ with a group of four admitted for $16.  Each additional person in the group is regular admission cost.

            In addition, special themed events are scheduled at the pools this summer, including two Sensory Swim times at the Roosevelt Swim Center on July 12 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and August 10 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. There will also be a Family Swim Night on June 11 at Jimmy Hilton pool at Sioux Park Pool from 6:30-8 p.m. There will also be two ‘Teen Nights’ with events scheduled at Horace Mann Pool from 6:30-8 p.m. on July 16 and August 13.  

            An ‘End of Summer Bash Community Drive Event’ is scheduled Saturday, August 16 for the last day of swimming at the Horace Mann and Parkview pools. Open swim at these facilities will be free with a donation to the Cornerstone Rescue Mission.

            All pools will be open on Independence Day, July 4 from noon to 4 p.m.
