CITY SEEKS LIFEGUARDS FOR SUMMER WORK
AT CITY'S POOLS
RAPID CITY, SD--The scene of lifeguards perched above pools, wearing sunglasses and whistles and holding life preservers fosters visions of sun-kissed skies, laughing children, green grass; thoughts of warm temperatures and cool water; sounds of loud music and the smell of sunscreen. And with this long winter, those images of summer can't get here fast enough!
The City's Recreation Division needs lifeguards for City pools at Horace Mann, Parkview, Jimmy Hilton and Rapid City Swim Center pools this summer. Applicants must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and be 15 years or older. Job duties include monitoring pool safety, conducting pool patrols and enforcing pool rules to prevent accidents, ability to respond to emergency situations, provide first aid and assist with swim lessons.
"Unfortunately we still have several more weeks of winter to endure but the summer season will be here before we know it," said City Recreation Specialist Emily Carstensen. "We encourage anyone with the qualifications to consider serving as a City lifeguard this summer for a fun, rewarding experience."
