City Releases January Building Permit Report;
Valuation total dips; still higher than January 2020, 2019 totals
RAPID CITY, SD—The City’s Building Services Division issued 164 building permits in January with a valuation total of $14.15 million. Among the permits issued were first phase alteration permits of facilities at Rushmore Crossing for the future location of Big Lots! and Old Navy.
The January valuation total is less than the $31.36 million valuation over the 254 permits issued in January 2021 but is higher that the valuation totals of January 2020 ($10.31 million/226 permits) and January 2019 ($11.95 million/193 permits).
Top permits issued for the month include Walmart Real Estate with Immel Construction as the contractor for alterations to the 1200 N. Lacrosse Street Walmart facility ($2,444,260); residential alterations at 1025 Fairview Street ($1,038,880); AR-18 LLC with Scull Construction as contractor for additions to the Strider facility at 2221 N. Plaza Drive ($511,195); Rushmore Crossing Associates with RCS Construction as contractor for alterations of the Big Lots shell space at 1617 Eglin Street ($495,000); and Rushmore Crossing Associates with RCS Construction as contractor for alterations to the Old Navy shell space at 1617 Eglin Street ($491,000).
