RAPID CITY, SD--Ann Hines has been named manager of the Black Hills Retired Senior Volunteer Program+ (RSVP+) effective April 1.  As manager of the program, Hines will provide oversight to several hundred volunteers who provide services to local and area non-profit organizations.

Angie Weeks is departing as director of the program after 30 years of service.

Hines has served as volunteer coordinator for Black Hills RSVP+ since 2012.  A native of central Minnesota, Hines is a graduate of Minnesota State University at Moorhead with a bachelor's degree in psychology.  Prior to moving to Rapid City, Hines worked for the Boys and Girls Club of the Red River Valley in Fargo.

"I have enjoyed working with Angie and the hundreds of volunteers in our service area for the past six years and I look forward to this new opportunity to manage the program," Hines said.  "The volunteers bring so much to the table with their life experiences, knowledge and skill sets that positively impact Rapid City and the area communities."

The Black Hills RSVP+ invites adults age 55 and over to put their life experience and skills to work for local agencies and organizations.  Volunteers provide many services including teaching children or adults to read, mentoring children, delivering meals to home-bound seniors and providing other skill sets to local and area non-profit agencies.  The '+' part of RSVP+ allows citizens of all ages to share in volunteering.

The program is funded by a federal grant through the Corporation for National and Community Service.  The City of Rapid City has sponsored the local program for more than 35 years.  More than 500 volunteers comprise Rapid City RSVP+ and contribute more than 10,000 hours of community service each month to Rapid City, Hot Springs, Hill City, Keystone, New Underwood and Wall.
