Two arrested in connection with robbery at Franklin Street residence

Police have arrested two suspects in connection with an armed robbery at a residence in the 300 block of Franklin Street.

Shortly before 12:00 p.m. on March 5th, police were dispatched the 324 Franklin Street for a report of a robbery. The reporting party stated he had been invited to the residence, and when he arrived, a male suspect pointed a pistol at him. The male suspect then demanded his money and property. The reporting party departed the residence before reporting the incident to police.

Police arrived and formed a perimeter around the residence. During this time, gunshots were reported heard coming from the residence. Two occupants were ordered out of the house. They are identified as 38-year-old Damon Patton and 34-year-old Cori Buffalo, both of Rapid City. No one else was located inside the residence. Neither occupant, nor the reporting party were injured at the time of police contact.

During the subsequent investigation into the incident, police determined Patton was the male suspect who pointed the handgun at the reporting party. It was also determined that Buffalo had aided in the robbery.

Both Patton and Buffalo have been placed under arrest for First Degree Robbery and have been placed in the custody of the Pennington County Jail. Police continue to investigate the incident.
