Three local businesses fail alcohol compliance check

On September 18th,  the Rapid City Police Department conducted compliance checks of local alcohol establishments.  A total of 15 establishments were checked and 12 were found to be in compliance.

Three of the establishments, Marlin’s Roadhouse Grill/Road Hog, located at 2803 Deadwood Ave, Longhorn Steakhouse, located at 1510 Eglin St, and Fresh Start, located at 520 Birch Ave, sold alcohol to underage police informants. The sellers, Breanna Phillips (22 years old), an employee of Road Hog, Ami Lapham (37 years old), an employee of Longhorn Steakhouse, and Abbie Tanner (50 years old), an employee of Fresh Start, were issued court appearance required citations.

Furnishing alcohol to a minor is a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both.

The Rapid City Police Department is committed to excellence in public safety. Protecting the youth in the community is a priority and the Department will continue to conduct alcohol compliance checks in an effort to reduce underage consumption of alcohol.

Since January 1, 2017, thirteen establishments have failed the alcohol compliance checks by selling to underage informants.

* The charges are merely accusations and the cited individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  Any additional details regarding this case can be obtained from the Pennington County State’s Attorney and/or court records as appropriate.
