The RCPD is hiring officers, kicking off recruitment efforts with STRONG{HER} event

The Rapid City Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of police officer. The RCPD is seeking highly motivated candidates from all walks of life to apply and test for the position. Successful candidates will be welcomed on to work for one of the most professional and progressive law enforcement agencies in the Midwest.

In an effort to further represent the citizens it serves, the RCPD is hosting a recruitment event aimed at candidates who may be interested in a career in law enforcement. The STRONG{HER} Recruitment Event has been scheduled for Monday, March 11th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Public Safety Building located at 300 Kansas City Street.  Various members of the agency will be on hand to showcase the wide variety of opportunities available in a career with the RCPD. Attendees can expect to visit with members of the RCPD’s K9 Unit, the City/County Special Response and Water Rescue Team, in addition to mentorship and ride-along opportunities. Though there will be a specific focus on garnering female applicants at the event, anyone interested in learning more about a career with the RCPD is welcome to attend.

“The world of law enforcement is constantly changing,” says Lt. Cathy Bock of the RCPD. “We’re always looking at different ways we can find motivated and qualified candidates to join our team. The RCPD is constantly working to ensure its demographics are reflective of the community we serve. That means working to break the notion that law enforcement is solely a ‘man’s job.’ It takes a team of diverse officers with a variety of different perspectives to best serve the community we have sworn our lives to protect.”

Those interested in finding out more about what it takes to become an officer of the RCPD can visit the ‘Careers’ portion of the RCPD’s website at https://www.rcgov.org/departments/police-department/careers-police-dept.html. A link to the application is also available on the website.

May 5th, 2019 is the deadline to apply.
