The RCPD would like to remind the public of upcoming street closures which will have a large impact to the normal flow of traffic in downtown Rapid City.
The closure of Sixth Street between Omaha Street and Main Street will take effect at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th and will last until 7:00 p.m. to accommodate for the Great Downtown Pumpkin Festival event. Starting at noon, Main Street between Fifth and Eighth Street will be closed to traffic to accommodate for the local filming of the ‘Fireball Run AdventureRally.’
Public parking will be prohibited in these areas for the time-frames noted. Outside of these areas, there will be free parking all day in all downtown public metered spaces on the street with an hourly time limit or meter, including the metered spaces in the parking ramp near Main Street Square.
Additionally, Visit Rapid City has coordinated a free shuttle which will run between the West Civic Center parking lot and Main Street Square. This shuttle will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
