Six local businesses fail alcohol compliance checks

On Thursday, June 9, 2016, the Rapid City Police Department conducted compliance checks of local alcohol establishments.  A total of 21 establishments were checked and 15 were found to be in compliance.  Six of the establishments/employees sold alcohol to underage police informants and were issued a court appearance required citation:

  • Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn, at 505 N. 5th St. (34-year-old Roseleen O’Crotty)
  • Pilot Travel Center, at 2783 Deadwood Ave. (51-yearold Ruby Sinclair)
  • Fresh Start, at 3343 N. Haines Ave. (22-year-old Derrick Elbright)
  • Fuddruckers, at 2200 N. Maple Ave. Suite 330 (31-year-old Susana Mendez)
  • Dakota’s Best, at 2200 N. Maple Ave. Suite 330 (23-year-old Erica Kuharski)
  • I-90 Standard Mobil Station, at 2213 N. LaCrosse St. (53-year-old Connie Brafford)

Furnishing alcohol to a minor is a class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both.

  9. Oakleaf Beer Garden                                      2211 N. LaCrosse St.
  10. Target                                                                   1415 Eglin St.
  11. Fuji Japanese Steakhouse                            1731 Eglin St.
  12. HuHot Mongolian Grill                                   1745 Eglin St.
  13. Native New Yorker                                          1756 Eglin St.
  14. Famous Dave’s                                                  1718 Eglin St.
  15. Longhorn Steakhouse                                    1510 Eglin St.

The Rapid City Police Department is committed to excellence in public safety. Protecting the youth in the community is a priority and the Department will continue to conduct alcohol compliance checks in an effort to reduce underage consumption of alcohol. Since January 1, 2016, fifteen establishments have failed the alcohol compliance checks by selling to underage informants.
