RCPD and Main Street Square announce rescheduled date for Cruiser Car Show

Following the decision to postpone the July 10th Cruiser Car Show, the RCPD, Destination Rapid City, and Main Street Square have picked the new date for the Cruiser Car Show. The Cruiser Car Show has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The 2016 Cruiser Car Show was postponed from its original date after a local media outlet received a phone call stating officers would be targeted by gunmen at the event. The event’s proximity to shootings in Dallas, Texas which targeted law enforcement prompted the decision to reschedule. Police continue to investigate the source of the phoned-in threat.

“While it remains unfortunate that certain individuals would threaten to piggy-back on a national tragedy in order to negatively impact a cherished local event, we’re thankful we can come together with Main Street Square to find another time we can bring the Cruiser Car Show event to the citizens of Rapid City,” said Rapid City Chief of Police Karl Jegeris. “In the days since the tragic events in Dallas, this community has been so supportive of its local law enforcement. This is one more way we can work to carry on that positive relationship with the city we serve.”

Cruiser Car Show and Street Fair features hundreds of cars, entertainment, and offers fun for the entire family. Registration for the event is now open until Thursday October 13 at noon. More information on the event lineup will be shared as it develops. Previously registered car owners will be contacted to confirm participation. If previous participants have any questions they can contact the Main Street Square office at (605) 716-7979 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
