Police seek public’s help in identifying kidnapping suspects

On December 3rd, police began investigating an incident in which two individuals were kidnapped as they exited the business at 1601 Haines Avenue.

In the early morning hours of December 3rd, two adult male subjects had just left the business and entered their vehicle. At that point, two unknown Native American males threatened both men with guns before getting into the backseat of the vehicle and ordering the driver to drive northbound on Haines Avenue.

At one point after leaving Rapid City limits, the two suspects in the backseat ordered the driver to pull over. Both kidnapping victims were ordered out of the vehicle and into the trunk of the car. The suspects then got back into the vehicle and began driving. After a short distance, the vehicle got stuck in a ditch. The suspects let the victims out of the trunk to get their help in pushing the vehicle out of the ditch. Shortly after, both victims ran from their captors and were able to contact police at a nearby residence.

Police located the victim’s vehicle, but did not locate the kidnapping suspects.

The two suspects are described as follows:

  • Native American male, about 5’11” with a medium build between the ages of 20 and 30, wearing a black zip-up jacket.
  • Native American male, about 5’8” with a small build between the ages of 20 and 30, wearing a blue bandana over his face.

Police continue to actively investigate this incident. Anyone with any information about the suspects is encouraged to contact Detective Steve Neavill at 394-4134, or they can submit an anonymous tip by texting ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
