Police continue to investigate crash on Deadwood Avenue

Officers and detectives of the Rapid City Police Department are still actively investigating the cause behind a fatal crash that occurred in the evening hours of November 11th.

At around 5:25 p.m. on November 11th, police were dispatched to the area of Deadwood Avenue and Plant Street for a report of a two-vehicle crash that had just occurred. On arrival, police located the crash involving two pickup trucks, a 1983 Chevrolet Pickup and a 2005 GMC Sierra. After speaking with witnesses, it was determined the Chevy pickup was southbound on Deadwood Avenue when it crossed over the centerline into the northbound lane. At that point, it struck the GMC Sierra head-on.

The lone occupant of the Chevy pickup was transported to Rapid City Regional Hospital for the treatment of serious, life-threatening injuries. Two occupants of the GMC Sierra were also transported for the scene, both with serious injuries.

The occupant of the Chevy pickup has since died of his injuries. He’s identified as 24-year-old Spencer Briscoe of Rapid City.

At this point in the investigation, police are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
