$2,000 offered for information about Rooster burglary

Rapid City, S.D. – Following the April 10th burglary of the business at 1441 W. Main Street, the Community Reward Fund has approved offering $2,000 from the fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the burglary.

Police were alerted to the burglary in the morning hours of April 10th and determined 25 hand guns were missing from the business.

“This is a particularly concerning burglary,” said Captain James Johns, commander of the RCPD Criminal Investigations Division. “25 hand guns are now in the hands of criminals. We know somebody in our community knows who did this, and we’re now able to offer them a substantial cash award for information about who committed this burglary.”

The Community Reward Fund is a 501(C)(3) public charity that was incorporated in 1994. It is used to administer the distribution of funds donated by the community. The CRF is administered by a seven-member panel which delegates when money from the fund is to be offered in order to facilitate the resolution of serious crimes.

Anyone with information about this burglary, its suspect, or the whereabouts of the stolen firearms are urged to contact Detective Dan Trainer at 394-4134. They can also send an anonymous tip by texting ‘RCPD’ and the information to 847411.
