Robin Carmody was born & raised in Dorchester, MA but left her heart in the Black Hills during a 1994 trip west to attend a history conference. Her first book, But Nana, Who Was Wild Bill?, is set in Deadwood. Carmody holds both a Class A Commercial Driver's License & a masters in early childhood education.
Betty Jo Huff has lived in South Dakota since high school & has attended many writing conferences in the Black Hills. These experiences led her to pursue her passion for storytelling. For several years she taught preschool providing the inspiration for her book.
Alex Portal was born in Pennsylvania & grew up dreaming of the Wild West. His wife, Rachel, accepted a position with Deadwood History, Inc., & the two moved to Lead, South Dakota. Portal works as a reporter for the Black Hills Pioneer recently illustrating his first children's book.
