Billing / Account Information
To help ease the burden on those customers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Rapid City suspended discontinuation of service for non-payment of utility bills on March 17, 2020. The City of Rapid City has determined that it needs to move toward resuming normal operations and will lift the suspension on discontinuation of service beginning January 4, 2021. Our records indicate that your account is currently past-due. You must bring your account current before January 4, 2021 in order to avoid a potential discontinuation of your service.
We know the COVID-19 pandemic has caused hardship, to varying degrees, for members of our community. If you continue to face a significance financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, you can apply for an exemption from discontinuation on a form available online at www.rcgov.org/covid19. If granted, the hardship exemption will allow you additional time, through a short-term utility payment plan, to become current on your City utility account.
If you have been impacted by COVID-19 and need financial assistance, please contact 211 for information on the many programs available at the state, county, and local levels. In addition, the State of South Dakota in collaboration with SD Housing Development Authority, Helpline Center, and partner agencies, are making available CARES Act funding to assist residents with housing and utility expenses. You can apply online at www.helplinecenter.org/sdcares.
