7th Street
Closed to through traffic

Effective Monday, October 21, 2019, 7th Street will be closed to through traffic from Saint Joseph Street to Omaha Street. Tru-Form Construction will be completing a valve and panel repair project in association with the Main Street repairs.  This work is expected to be completed by October 28, 2019.

Tower Road
Closed to through traffic

Effective Thursday, October 17, 2019, a portion of Tower Road, located between Tower Court and west of Mount Rushmore Road, will be closed to through traffic. Work in this immediate area will occur until Wednesday, October 23, 2019. The purpose of the road closure is for utility work.

Fountain Plaza Drive
Street Closure

Beginning Monday, October 14, 2019 Fountain Plaza Drive from the intersection of North Plaza Drive to South Plaza Drive will be closed to through traffic for road construction.  Such work will include; Asphalt Removal, Grading and Asphalt Paving. During this time, access to businesses will be maintained. The project is expected to be completed by October 25, 2019.

San Francisco Street and Cherry Avenue
Traffic Restriction

Effective Saturday, October 12, 2019, San Francisco Street and Cherry Avenue will have closures due to the Household Hazardous Waste Disposal event that will be taking place at the Central States Fairgrounds. San Francisco Street will be closed between the east grandstand entrance and Cambell Street. Cherry Avenue will be closed from East Saint James Street to San Francisco Street. All access and egress to and from the event will take place via Lacrosse Street. The hours of the event are 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

5th Street
Lane Closure

Beginning Tuesday, October 8th and ending Wednesday, October 9, 2019, there will be a lane closure of the east lane of the northbound traffic on 5th Street between Main Street and Saint Joseph Street.  MDU will be working in the alley located between 6th Street and 1st Street between Main Street and Saint Joseph Street beginning Monday, October 7th.  Partial alley closures/restrictions will be in place until Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

New York Street
Road Closure

Starting Monday, October 14, 2019, the ability to enter New York Street from the east at the intersection with East Blvd will be closed.  Traffic will be re-rerouted to North Street to Haines Avenue or Omaha Street to Haines Avenue to access businesses on New York Street. The closure will be in effect until October 28, 2019.

New York

Fire Hydrant Installation
Street Closure

Effective Friday, October 4, 2019, traffic control will be set up for the 2019 Fire Hydrant Installation Annual Project.  Work includes installation of water main and fire hydrants.  The streets closed to through traffic during construction are City Springs Court, Reder Street (north of Brookside Drive), Mesa Drive (between Lance Street and Arrow Street), Arrow Street Cul-de-Sac, and Saint Andrew Street (located off Palo Verde Drive).  Parking on the streets will be limited.  Work will be completed on November 1, 2019.

Sheridan Lake Road
Traffic Restriciton

Effective Monday, September 30, 2019, Sheridan Lake Road will be reduced to one lane in the southbound direction from Arrowhead Country Club to Corral Drive. Engbarth Directional Drilling will be in the area boring private utility lines. The project is expected to be completed by October 3, 2019.

5th Street
Sidewalk Closure and Flagging

Effective Monday, September 23, 2019, the sidewalk on the east side of 5th Street from Anamaria Drive to Nebraska Street will be closed.  Flaggers will be on 5th Street to stop traffic for truck traffic going in and out of the job site.  The closure will be for approximately 2 weeks.

Knollwood Drive
Closed to through traffic

Beginning Monday, September 23, 2019, a portion of Knollwood Drive beginning at 120 Knollwood Drive to 231 Knollwood Drive will be closed to through traffic for road construction. Access to the movie theaters will remain open via the west entrance.  The project involves removing the existing pavement, stabilizing the subgrade and installing asphalt pavement.  The project is expected to be completed by November 1, 2019.

Reservoir Road
Closed to through traffic

Effective September 17, 2019, a portion of Reservoir Road, located between Twilight Drive and Meadow Ridge Drive, will be closed to through traffic.  The duration of the work in this immediate area will be for approximately November 1, 2019.

Cambell Street
Traffic Restriction

Effective Thursday, September 19, 2019, Cambell Street will be narrowed to single lane, head to head traffic. The two northbound lanes and the center turn lane will be closed from East Omaha Street to St Patrick Street. Pedestrian foot traffic will be maintained on the east and west side of Cambell. This project is expected to take 10 weeks and will be completed by the end of November.

Disk Drive and Haines Avenue
Traffic Restriction

Starting Monday, September 9, 2019, the traffic control for the ongoing utility and street replacement project occurring at the intersection of Disk Drive and Haines Avenue will be reconfigured.  The three eastern lanes on Haines Avenue and the northern lane on Disk Drive will be closed.  Traffic will continue to be restricted to a single lane in either direction on both Haines Avenue and Disk Drive.  Commuters can expect significant delays and are encouraged to seek an alternate route.  This work is expected to be completed by November 15, 2019.

Main Street - 4th Street to West Boulevard / Mount Rushmore Road - Main Street to Omaha Street
Traffic Restriction

Effective Tuesday, October 15, 2019, north bound traffic on Mount Rushmore Road will be narrowed to one lane between Main Street and Omaha Street. Tru-Form Construction will be completing a valve and panel repair project.  The first phase of this project was completed in the spring and the second phase will be completed this month.  The split phasing was necessary to lessen the impact on the traveling public and tourist season. This work is expected to be completed by October 19, 2019.

Tompkins Street between Fulton and Clark
Closed to through traffic

Effective Monday, August 5, 2019, the portion of Tompkins Street located between Fulton and Clark Street will be closed for the Fulton Street Reconstruction Project. The duration of the road closure in this immediate area will be for approximately 2 months. The sidewalks in the area will also be closed.

Fulton Street will remain closed from West Boulevard to 9th Street for the completion of Phase 4 of the reconstruction project. The sidewalks in the area will also remain closed.

The portion of Fulton Street will also remain closed from West Boulevard to 11th Street for the Fulton Street Reconstruction project. The sidewalks in the area will also be closed.

Founders Park Drive Bridge
Lane Closure

Beginning July 22, 2019, the bridge located on Founders Park Drive north of the Omaha Street and 12th Street/Founders Park Drive intersection near the Executive Golf Course will be reduced to one lane of traffic.  Signals will be installed to control traffic across the bridge.  A pedestrian detour will be provided utilizing the bike path.  The bike path will remain unimpeded by the construction.

The bridge is being rehabilitated under a South Dakota Department of Transportation contract.  Upon completion in October, the bridge will return to two traffic lanes with a dedicated pedestrian/golf cart lane that will be separated by a barrier.

The work is being completed by Heavy Constructors of Rapid City.  Any questions regarding the construction can be directed to the contractor at (605) 342-3152.

East Fairlane Drive
Closed to Through Traffic

Effective Monday, July 8, 2019, East Fairlane Drive will be closed to through traffic east of Elm Street to the dead end of the street past the intersection with Ivy Avenue.  This reconstruction is expected to be completed by October 20, 2019.

38th Street
Street Closure

Effective Monday, June 24, 2019, 38th Street will be closed from the intersection of Range Road to Burns Drive. Vehicular and pedestrians detours will be provided.  The work in the Range Road intersection will be completed prior to the beginning of school.  The overall completion date for the project is October 18, 2019.

Fulton Street
Closed to Through Traffic

Effective Monday, June 17, 2019, Fulton Street from West Boulevard to the alley west of 11th Street will be closed to through traffic for the Fulton Street Reconstruction project. The duration of the road closure will be for approximately 3 months. The sidewalks in this area will be closed.

St Cloud Street
Road Closure

Phase 1 of St Cloud Street construction work will begin March 25, 2019 at intersection of St. Cloud and West Blvd west through 11th Street intersection. St. Cloud will be closed to traffic through duration of construction with restricted access west of 11th Street intersection.
