The Department participates in the School Liaison Program jointly with the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office. Between the two agencies, all public middle and high schools in Rapid City have 1-2 full-time school liaison officers.
Rapid City police officers are currently stationed at Central High School, and the city's public middle schools. The School Liaison Officers provide assistance to school administrators and parents, instruction to students, investigation of criminal activity, and deal with other police issues concerning schools and students. Our School Liaison program started more than three decades ago and serves as an effective link between law enforcement, parents, and educators.
