Amanda graduated from Platte High School and joined the United States Air Force shortly after where she served in Public Affairs and Armed Forces Radio and Television Service. Upon completion her military service she attended Lincoln Memorial University earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business with a double minor in Broadcasting and Computer and Information Systems. A decade later, Scott earned a Master of Business Administration degree while attending Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Amanda's fascination with computers and technology lead her to becoming a programmer and network administrator of a couple family owned businesses with a central office and many remote satellite sites. It wasn’t long that her attention soon turned to the efficiencies of any type of process whether in finance, computers and electronics, or production lines. She considers her number one hobby the critical analysis of identifying revenue and funding sources in order to progress events, projects or business forward. She currently is the Vice President of Block Manufacturing for Pete Lien and Sons, Inc. and President of Cheyenne River Spec Mix located in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Driven by a strong belief in giving back to the community with monetary, time, and talent donations, Amanda has served on the Rapid City Common Council since 2012. She has served as chair of the Public Works Committee, chair of the Legal Finance Committee, liaison to the Planning Commission, Vice President of the City Council, and currently serves as City Council President.
