Mission Statement:

Planning, developing and building a better community.

 

Purpose:

Provides a broad mix of development services including building inspections, residential and  non-residential growth analysis and projections, development review, transportation planning, air quality inspections, annexation studies, tax increment financing review and historic preservation assistance.

Building Services Division

  • Plans examination and building code enforcement
  • Building permitting and inspections
  • Air Quality permitting
  • Staff support for Building Code Board of Appeals and Air Quality Board

  • Plans examination and zoning ordinance enforcement
  • Review and processing of land use applications
  • Prepares zoning code ordinances and municipal code amendments
  • Staff support for the Planning  Commission

Code Enforcement Division

  • Respond to complaints registered by citizens, Mayor, City Council, or other City Officials
  • Initiate enforcement action on violations observed by enforcement officers where no complaints have been filed
  • Administer the processes of noticing and abatement of violations
  • Assist in the enforcement of the requirements of the Sign Code

CDBG Program Division

  • Manage the Community Development Block Grant Program
  • Prepare multi-year strategic plans, Annual Action Plans, and annual performance reports
  • Receive, review, and distribute eligible applications to Investment Committee for funding recommendations
  • Fund projects and programs that address high-priority needs
  • Conduct program oversight and monitoring
  • Administer the Neighborhood Revitalization Loan Program
  • Execute home improvement loans for owner-occupied home repair services
  • Coordinate payment transactions between homeowners and contractors
  • Conduct Community Outreach and Coordination
