Agenda Item Summary:
Fugro USA Land, Inc. was selected to complete the Digital GIS Base Map Development Services project, with the aerial photography to be collected during the spring of 2021. The previous Rapid City area photography was collected in the spring of 2018. The base model for the photo processing was developed in 2000, and was updated in 2008 and 2015. The current model was developed using LiDAR from the 2015 spring flight and the latest vertical datum NAVD 88. This brought our data in line with the vertical datum used by the federal and South Dakota state governments. The City of Rapid City has previously updated its digital orthophotography every 2 to 3 years. The photos and data derived from these collections is heavily used by City and County departments, as well consultants, contractors, and the public using Rapid Map.
