Agenda Item Summary:
Public participation is vital to the Transit Feasibility Study in order to generate ideas and build support by engaging residents, businesses, elected officials and other stakeholders throughout the area. It provides the broadest spectrum of relevant and available information from existing and potential transit system users prior to decision making, and it allows the public an opportunity to raise concerns that can be considered during the compilation of technical, political and economic issues. The Rapid City Area Metropolitan Planning Organization welcomes the early and continued participation of the public in the development of policies and plans.
Numerous activities are planned, including media/press releases, surveys, focus groups, stakeholder interviews and public open houses, all of which are intended to actively solicit comments and engage the interests of the public throughout the participation process.
